OnePlus has been attempting to redress itself for a few months now, trying to please its users with updates, hot fixes and price reductions for its devices. The latest move in attempting to appease customers is to drop the price of OnePlus 2. The ordering and shipping difficulties that customers complained about in the past are now being taken care of (with the drop of the invite system) and orders above $100 will ship for free.

OnePlus 2 will drop $40 from its price, going down to $349 permanently. The smartphone launched in July and it came in two different configurations: a 16GB storage version with 3GB of RAM and a 64GB version with 4GB of RAM. The rest of the specs are comprised of a Snapdragon 810 processor with a 5.5” 1080p display, 13MP camera, fingerprint sensor and a 3300 mAh battery. The 16GB version is out of stock at the moment, but the 64GB version used to cost $389 until today. Keep in mind that OnePlus’ flagship does not have NFC, fast charging or wireless charging, if that makes any difference.

Anyone who bought a OnePlus 2 in the last 15 days will also get the retroactive $40 discount, which is a great and unexpected deal that will not make them feel somehow cheated.

Xiaomi and Meizu are finally and officially on the US market thanks to US Mobile. The Chinese smartphone manufacturers have become some of the most popular in the world but they want to conquer the US as well. Now they have a bigger chance, especially since one of the biggest US carriers is offering them support.

Xiaomi is one of the most popular OEMs globally and the second most popular manufacturer on the Chinese market at the moment. Its “low cost, high end” offerings are hard to resist, and the spec sheets prove it. The US market has been uninfluenced by the Chinese offerings, but that is going to change as US Mobile is finally letting Xiaomi and Meizu in.

US Mobile has promised to offer support and service for the devices it sells and this should assure users that they will not have to fear the need for after-sales support from China. The bad part of the deal is that the devices will not support LTE bands for the US. They are imported from China and not created specifically for the USA networks, which makes them unoptimized. They will be unlocked, however.

The devices are not the most recent smartphones that Xiaomi and Meizu have launched on the Asian market either, but they don’t lag too far behind. Among the offerings you will find Meizu Note 2, Xiaomi Mi 4, Xiaomi Mi 3 and Redmi 2.

Even if the news itself may not be very exciting, it does mark the beginning of a new era when it comes to the US smartphone market. The entry of Chinese smartphones on the US markets should make other manufacturers rethink their marketing strategy in favor of the customers. We shall see if the arrival of Xiaomi and Meizu on the US market has any effect in the near future.

In order to be eligible for this deal you have to buy a Droid Turbo 2 that you can pair with a duplicate device or with a Maxx 2 phone. You can get them as stock devices from Verizon or you can spice them up a bit in the Moto Maker. Most people will just chose two Turbo 2 devices, and not as much for the matching brand, but for the sake of saving $300, and not less than $200 for a cheaper device.

In order to be eligible for this deal you have to keep in mind that you must activate your phone on Verizon. The promotion does not have an end date at the moment, but expect it to be over after Valentine’s day.

Well, you are in luck friend, because today you can get the Greatest Hits compilation from Janice Joplin for free from the Google Play Music store. The album is only available to US customers but, if you are lucky, you may get it in other countries too.

Janice Joplin became a sensation in the 1960s, when experimental rock and the hippie movement were at their peak. She remained a highly important musical figure after her death in 1970 at the fresh age of 27. She is one of the classic American rock musicians whose music endured over the ages.

The Greatest Hits compilation found on the Google Play Music store is not new, but the 1973 album that has become something of a staple for her music, and it includes two tracks added in the 1999 re-issue. The album includes the hit Me and Bobby McGee, which made Joplin famous globally.

As it happens with all free albums on Google Music, you will be able to add the album on your library and you will be able to listen to it whenever you want. You will be able to use the album even after it returns to paid status. Enjoy your music!
