Black Friday is almost upon us and everyone is already getting their unbeatable deals out of the closets. Maybe you are not considering the big carrier stores as one of your destinations, but Verizon really wants you to look at their deals. If you feel that the prices are usually a bit above your financial possibilities, maybe you will find something attractive now.       Verizon is offering a Black Friday discount – $200 value – on Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, or DROID Turbo 2 if you switch carriers and you release ownage of your existing device. You may also be eligible for a $300 gift card or credit Verizon if you trade in one of a number of used phones, which means you may be looking at a $500 discount.   If these discounts are not enough for you, Verizon is also cutting $100 off the retail price of some Verizon smartphones that usually sell at $400 and above. Some of them are LG V10, Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5.   If an LTE tablet is more to your liking, you may want to consider an Ellipsis 8 for only $50 (it usually costs $80). This deal is paired with a two-year contract, which may not be your cup of tea on the long run though.   Black Friday for Verizon is also packed with discounted accessories, including Parrot AR Drone 2.0 Elite (down to $250 – $50 discount) or a Nest Cam ($170).   Source: Verizon Black Friday

Motorola DROID Turbo 2 deemed somewhat indestructible in early tests!

Motorola DROID Turbo 2 is new and ready to tumble, as Verizon and Motorola announced today, plus the device is marketed as shatterproof! According to third-party testers, this claim may have some truth to it as the phone is seen suffering tons of falls against different surfaces that have little to no effect over its functionality.       You can drop it from various distances, let it get hit by a car or stomped by a horse’s hoof, but it will still function. DROID Turbo 2 does not just get up from all of the violence it’s been put through without scars though, but if you have lived life with a smartphone with a shattered screen you can live with some dents in the screen too. CNN tried to break the smartphone today and below you can see what they managed to do:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-V2r_9Um2Tw   The main problem could be the sides of the screen as they suffer the most when the device is dropped, scratched or ran over. If you can’t take a dent or two on your smartphone – if you do a lot of heavy-lifting or are just that clumsy – you may still want to invest in a case or keep your mobile device close by. DROID Turbo 2 is closer to being an indestructible smartphone, but it still lacks Superman skills in this aspect.   Source: AndroidPolice

HTC Desire 625 – a cheap alternative available at Verizon Wireless

If you don’t have enough cash for an HTC One M9 laying around and, to be honest, if you don’t want the hassle of a faulty camera and overheating issues, you can choose the much more affordable HTC Desire 625. It is an exclusive for Verizon Wireless that almost anyone can afford.       The Desire line usually manages to get the important aspects of the flagship and transform them into an affordable device. And they usually cost much less than a flagship too.       HTC Desire 625 is the most recent addition to this line and it presents itself as a smartphone with a plastic white and gold body, but a nice and smooth finish. It costs just about $192 in the US where you can get it at Verizon on contract for $8 per month for 24 months too. What’s inside the HTC Desire 625?   When it comes to specs, this device cannot be farther from the 2015 flagship. Under the chassis you will find a measly Snapdragon 210 plus 1.5 GB of RAM. Everything is projected on a 5” screen at 720x960p resolution and powered by a 2000 mAh battery. The good part is the 16GB of internal storage plus a microSD card slot. The device also has a rear 8MP camera that will not make the best photos, but you know, 2014 is not that far away and last year’s mobile cameras are not that bad..   HTC Desire 625 comes with Android 5.1 and Sense 7 […]
