Android Wear devices are getting a big update this month. Google will soon begin a big roll out with some major new features users may find interesting. One of the most important updates is the ability to take and make calls directly on the watch ( you would, of course, need a watch with a speaker to do this). Only two smartwatches have a speaker at the moment, namely Asus ZenWatch 2 (49mm) and the Huawei Watch. The Android Wear update also brings better support for controlling your watch with gestures, even if some may need to be decoded to work, and the ability to dictate messages that you can then send from apps like WhatsApp and Hangouts. Google mentioned that the update will start rolling out on existing Android smartwatches in the next couple of weeks. This important update that adds message dictation can make this type of wearable more important and useful than before while adding an innovative idea such as using a wearable device with additional gestures. Google has not made any important changes since it launched the Android Wear platform, but the resulting wearables offer users more stylistic diversity when compared to the offerings of Samsung, Pebble or Apple, for example. Star Wars The Force Awakens is almost upon us but, until then, many many promotional add-ons can be tried along with games and apps and toys and all the fun. The newest addition to the SW hype is an Android Wear watch face that goes very well with your companion app. In order to be able to use this app, all you have to do is install it on a linked phone and the watch face will change. You get three themes for free: the light side, the dark side and the droid side. The light face is green and has a starscape and the dark side has a red hue with the Death Star in the background. The droid theme is blue and it has R2 as a main background detail. The sad part is you can’t change anything because it is just a theme. You have a single interactive feature: you can tap on the date and find out what happened in Star Wars history. Considering it is free, the Watch face connection app will tingle some fans’ feelings of hype.
Tag Heuer launched a new Android Wear device today and it seems that it is now the most expensive smartwatch on the market. Luxury watch lovers will find it the best Android Wear device on the market because of the price, but is it indeed worth the price? Tag Heuer Connected is probably the best watch around at least when it comes to materials used and technical hardware. Tag Heuer Connected Official specs: 1.6GHz Atom processor 1GB RAM 4GB of storage 410 mAh battery. It should be the fastest smartwatch around and, since it has that much RAM, it should have a great overall performance too. And it should impress since its price says much already: $1500. For this price, you get some interesting features and design details, such as TAG’s unique styling. The watch has a titanium body and watch lugs and a scratch-resistant sapphire glass, but it falls short when it comes to the band by using silicone straps. Its screen is round and presents a transflective LCD panel with the 360×360 resolution. Tag Heuer Connected will be available in black when it launches today and some retail partners will offer customers orange, red, blue, green and yellow options. When it comes to software, Connected sports the most recent Android Wear OS version with some (read a ton) of TAG Heuer’s add-ons, plus some interactive watch faces and some timer apps and custom alarms. Overall, the device should remain compatible with most if not […]
Pebble Time Round will launch in November 8 and, if you live in the US, you will be able to buy it from Best Buy and Target. You will also be able to purchase one of these smartwatch devices from Amazon and Pebble’s own sites, regardless of where you live. Now when it comes to price, it is one of the more expensive devices to launch on the niche market, with a starting price of $249. Is it worth it? The Pebble Time Round has been laying low since its announcement in September, but come Sunday, things will change. Why is this devices so important? because Pebble usually pioneers different features on its gadgets and manages to offer their customers a pretty decent device. Why is this Pebble Time Round different? It has an e-paper display exactly like its predecessor (only round), which, despite the mono-chrome vibe, manages to help the device run for days (at least on paper). The smartwatch weighs 28 grams and measures 7.5mm in thickness, but it still manages to remain the thinnest and lightest smartwatch on the market. The lightness of the device cuts back on the weeks-worth of battery from the previous Pebble device as official statements put the battery life at 2 days worth of activity for a full charge. The good thing is the smartwatch has a quick charging feature that will let your Pebble Round get a day of battery life in only 15 minutes. When it comes to color options […]
Samsung Gear S2 is finally live and you can order it online, if you want one of these babies that is. You can even choose because you have more options: S2 and S2 Classic, plus tons of watch-faces and straps. They start at prices if $299 for the S2 and $349 for the S2 Classic, but you can be sure this is Samsung’s best wearable yet. The smartwatch looks good, keeps to the classic appearance of a watch but is very very smart because of Tizen OS, Samsung’s proprietary operating system. This means you will be learning to operate on a whole new and different interface from the likes of Android Wear or Apple Watch, but this is indeed a complete experience that will make the device remarkable and memorable. It even has NFC, which means that, if you pair it with a Samsung device that supports Samsung Pay, you will be able to use it to make mobile payments in the near future. Samsung Gear S2 is already available for order on Amazon, Samsung’s official site and on Best Buy. (Macy’s decided to bulk the price of each model by $50, so we don’t recommend it.) Samsung Gear S2 is the cheaper version for the Samsung wearables made in 2015, and it shows, it has a minimalist design while still trying to maintain a classic watch look. The S2 Classic is much more elaborate design-wise and it tries to emulate a traditional watch. Both devices have rotating bezels […]
