Samsung Galaxy S7 Plus renders leak in video!

The world keeps spinning and leaks keep showing up earlier and earlier it seems. The newest leak comes from Samsung, where the new Galaxy S7 Plus appeared in early renders this week. The video and accompanying images were rapidly put under the microscope and the first complaints didn’t delay in showing up either.

Galaxy S7 Plus

Galaxy S7 is said to launch sometime in January but not at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. This means that some leaks had to surface the interweb already, right? The leaks were captured by @OnLeaks for uSwitch and they show an S7 Plus, a more powerful device than the standard S7 should be. According to the recent rumors, some details regarding the smartphone include:

  • 6-inch 4K Ultra HD display – four times sharper than Full HD
  • 7.82mm thickness
  • 163.4mm x 82mm x 7.82mm
  • metal frame.

What is surprising is that Galaxy S7 Plus will not have an USB Type-C port, at least from what we can see in renders.

Most flagship and mid-range devices launched these last few months and some scheduled to appear next year have Type-C ports and, considering that a microUSB port is a major drawback now, things could go sideways with the Samsung smartphone next year. Users have been dreaming about faster data transfer speeds and charging since Samsung Galaxy S6 launched.

When it comes to design, small changes can be seen, such as the now rectangular home button and the front facing camera located at the top right corner of the smartphone. This Samsung phone will not get a microSD slot or a removable battery, which are considered huge drawbacks for many users nowadays. You will have to be pleased with the internal storage you get and use the cloud-based storage service of your liking if you really want more space.

S7 Plus back

Samsung Galaxy S7 Plus will have a pressure-sensitive screen that is similar to Apple’s 3D Touch, which is not such a big surprise considering the two OEMs are always at each others’ throats.

It appears that Samsung is giving up on the proprietary Exynos processor for some S7 variants in favor of a Qualcomm alternative. This means that some builds of the device could have better support when it comes to custom ROMs and kernels, which is always a good thing.

You have to keep in mind that these renders could show a product still in the development stage as the final product may look significantly different. As it happens with all leaks, take everything with skepticism. Of course, don’t forget that this will be a flagship of some sort, which also makes it an expensive device at launch, somewhere along the lines of an S6 launch price or even higher.

Samsung Galaxy A5 and A7 leaked well ahead of next year launch

Samsung Galaxy A5 and A7 were leaked recently and it appears we are talking about 2016 versions of these devices. Rumors are already abounding and the two new Galaxy devices seem to sport a very different design to what Samsung previously launched.

Of course, the two new smartphones will have better screens and resolutions and they will be accompanied by better Exynos processors.

Samsung Galaxy A5 speculated specs:

  • 5.2-inch display with full HD resolution (SAMOLED possibly)
  • 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos 7 SoC
  • Mali-T720 GPU
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB built-in storage
  • 13MP rear camera plus 5MP front camera
  • microSD slot
  • Android 5.1.1.

Samsung Galaxy A7 speculated spec list:

HTC One X9 appears on TENAA; future launch imminent

HTC One X9 was spotted last weekend when some TENAA listings were leaked out. The device is being sold as a “pursuit of brilliance packed with city smarts”. What does that mean? We don’t know yet, but we may find out more in the future.

HTC One X9

The X9 is a variable of HTC One A9 design-wise, but the lack of a fingerprint reader could point to a cheaper device with overall lower specs. The device shown in photos has BoomSound speakers, plus some capacitive buttons at the front panel. Below you can read what the rest of the speculated specs are:

  • 2.2 GHz quad core processor
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 16GB internal storage plus microSD card slot for more storage
  • 7.99mm thick, 153.2 x 75.9 mm
  • 174g weight.

No details regarding a possible launch were leaked yet. HTC needs a breath of fresh air on the market given its financial issues, and any new smartphone could become a hit. We will have to see if HTC One X9 will manage to get the niche market hyped enough because M9, HTC One M9e and One A9 did not break the Internet this year.

HTC One A9 unit leaked in photos!

HTC One A9 photos leak courtesy of @OnLeaks today. The device is said to be launching on October 20 in New York, but considering HTC’s recent financial troubles, every move is being monitored. These leaked photos show a dummy device with no working parts on the inside, but the look and design of the device should be exactly the same at launch.

HTC one A9 4

HTC One A9 has been leaked before, and it is already target to many many jokes and comparisons with Apple products. Now we can see the device in better detail: rounded edges, a fingerprint reader on the front similar to Samsung’s devices and the centered back camera adorned with lines on the top and bottom rear side. The left side shows a microSD card slot and a SIM tray while the right side shows the power button and a volume rocker.

The device is said to launch in November, but nothing is sure yet. HTC One A9 will come to the US, but there is no news regarding which carriers will take and sell it yet. The unit shown in the leaks is branded as an AT&T device, which pretty much confirms that the device will be sold via this carrier. More news to come.

LG Nexus 5 2015 leaked in internal photos

Google is almost ready to release its new incarnations of the Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 later this year and a new leak may show us what the LG device looks like. Google chose to partner with LG and Huawei for this year’s rendition of its Nexus devices and below you can see the newest addition to the LG nexus 5 leaks.

Nexus 5 2015

The device shown presents the Nexus as a Project N3 device, which is pretty accurate considering this is the third Nexus that LG produces for Google. The image shows both the front and the back of the device and, as we can see, the back renders seen before were pretty much accurate. The round fingerprint scanner is present just below the camera sensor and there are dual front-facing speakers to be seen as well.

Nexus 5 2015 specs

This leak comes bearing specs as well, and some of the details are a little surprising. The LG Nexus 5 2015 will have a 5.2-inch full HD (1080p) display and under the chassis you will find a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor paired with 2 GB – you read right, only 2 GB – of RAM. The entire device is powered by a 2,700 mAh battery, a rather small cell for today’s needs. But it could work out.

Keep in mind that these specs were not confirmed by Google or Nexus officials so they could be wrong.

Sony Xperia Z5 details and photos leak ahead of official launch

Sony Xperia Z5 leaked again in some new tweets and photos. Its imminent launch is closer by the day and it appears that we may get three models instead of just one: Z5, Z5 Compact and Z5 Premium/Plus. The devices should stick to the original Sony brand design which is comprised of squares and metal rails plus glass. It may not be the bestest design right now, but it still retains its charm.

Specs and speculation

The new Sony Xperia Z5 will sport a 23 MP rear camera sensor, if we are to believe rumors, and it appears that the power button on the side will also include a fingerprint scanner.

Other details separate the three different Z5 versions by specs:

xperia Z5 specs

The original Xperia Z5 should have a 5.2 inch screen with 1080p FHD resolution whereas the Compact version will sport a smaller (4.6 inch) screen at 720p resolution.

The Premium Z5 should have the biggest screen of all at 5.5 inches with an Ultra-HD 4K display. The last one could be meant to use with the Google Cardboard for VR.

We are not sure how well this pixel density will perform on a mobile device, but we will find out at IFA in Berlin in two days time, when the Sony event takes place.
