HTC One X9 official launch – possibly exclusive – in China

HTC One X9 is finally official in China. The device is pretty similar to HTC A9, but its unibody design is closer to a Nexus 6P than an iPhone. But the hints are small, and they may not even be rip-offs so we’ll let that slide, HTC is in enough trouble with A9’s design as is. The smartphone was officially announced in China recently – after many many leaks – and that is where it will remain because there is no news on it being exported to the rest of the world any time soon.       HTC One X9 official specs:   5.5-inch 1080p IPS LCD screen MediaTek X10 octa-core SoC 3GB of RAM 32 storage plus a MicroSD card slot 13MP camera 3000 mAh battery.   One different thing that One X9 possesses over A9 are the physical capacitive buttons you can spot in the front. The device is currently listed exclusively on Chinese sites and it is unclear if it will become available outside China. It has a listed price of 2399 yuan, which is roughly $370. Would you consider buying an HTC One X9, if it became available worldwide?   Source: HTC via AndroidPolice

HTC One A9 and M9 get update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow!

HTC is doing some updates and, by now – if you have one of the targeted devices – you should have already received the update to Android Marshmallow. The devices in question are HTC One A9 and HTC One M9. The devices are getting an ota to 6.0.1 and 6.0 respectively, which makes Mo Versi’s promise made earlier this month true.       HTC’s Mo Versi announced the update on Twitter yesterday. This brings HTC’s 2015 flagship to Marshmallow Android OS capacity and A9 to max Android speed. This also includes the new Android emojis for A9. Yay!     One M9 gets Doze, better control over app permissions, Google Now on Tap and other goodies.   Source: Twitter

HTC One X9 photos and specs leak online – here’s what a mid-range device looks like

HTC One X9 recently leaked online and now we are ready to spill some secrets for you. X9 hit TENAA last month and we had all the scoop on that, but now it’s time to disclose important stuff like specs and OS versions and all that jazz. The leaks come from China, which makes everything believable, including the render photos below.     The smartphone looks no different than any other new HTC device, and it has some specs that make it look like a mid-range device. Here are some details:   5.5-inch IPS display with 1090 x 1080 p resolution 2.2GHz quad-core processor 2GB RAM 16 GB on-board storage 13MP main camera 5MP front camera microSD card for storage expansion 3000 mAh battery Android 5.0.2 174 grams 153.2 x 75.9 x 7.99 mm.   HTC One X9 will launch next year, but there are no details regarding its official launch yet. Let’s hope this one will help the company sell more because we all know HTC is having financial issues at the moment. At the moment, HTC One A9 is the closest thing to a flagship for the company and we can only wonder if next year will bring a One M10. We shall see.   Source: Android Community

Unlocked HTC One M8 gets Android 6.0 OTA

HTC seems to get more and more timely with its updates these days. Case in point: the unlocked HTC One M8, which is getting an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow in the next 24 hours. The first device to get an update to Android 6.0 was M8 Google Play Edition, which received its OTA last month, and now it appears that the unlocked M8 version will get its due update as well.       For HTC One M8 to get an update to Android 6.0 this early it means that its owners will get an update well before the owners of this year’s HTC flagship, One M9.   This OTA should bring about a comparatively stock-looking version of Sense UI. After the update arrives, its open source kernel files should be around in a month. This means that custom ROM makers will get new useful tools as they work on bringing their users the custom Marshmallow lifestyle.   Source: AndroidPolice

HTC One X9 appears on TENAA; future launch imminent

HTC One X9 was spotted last weekend when some TENAA listings were leaked out. The device is being sold as a “pursuit of brilliance packed with city smarts”. What does that mean? We don’t know yet, but we may find out more in the future.       The X9 is a variable of HTC One A9 design-wise, but the lack of a fingerprint reader could point to a cheaper device with overall lower specs. The device shown in photos has BoomSound speakers, plus some capacitive buttons at the front panel. Below you can read what the rest of the speculated specs are:   2.2 GHz quad core processor 2GB of RAM 16GB internal storage plus microSD card slot for more storage 7.99mm thick, 153.2 x 75.9 mm 174g weight.   No details regarding a possible launch were leaked yet. HTC needs a breath of fresh air on the market given its financial issues, and any new smartphone could become a hit. We will have to see if HTC One X9 will manage to get the niche market hyped enough because M9, HTC One M9e and One A9 did not break the Internet this year.   Source: TENAA via AndroidCommunity
