UK HTC One M8 and M9 get update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow

HTC One M8 and M9 from the UK are getting an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. HTC has promised fast updates for its devices, but the action is not as easy to do as the announcement. Every country has to wait its turn because these things take time. Now it is time for the UK HTC One M8 to get its update.   https://twitter.com/HTC_UK/status/689061850550550528     The announcement came on Twitter from the HTC UK account and it appears that, in the next 48 hours, all One M8 devices from the country will be updated. The One M9 will be updated soon after too. This makes last year’s flagship the first to receive an update to Android’s most recent OS, ahead of this year’s one. Get ready to hit that Update Now button, folks!   Source: Twitter

HTC One A9 and M9 get update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow!

HTC is doing some updates and, by now – if you have one of the targeted devices – you should have already received the update to Android Marshmallow. The devices in question are HTC One A9 and HTC One M9. The devices are getting an ota to 6.0.1 and 6.0 respectively, which makes Mo Versi’s promise made earlier this month true.       HTC’s Mo Versi announced the update on Twitter yesterday. This brings HTC’s 2015 flagship to Marshmallow Android OS capacity and A9 to max Android speed. This also includes the new Android emojis for A9. Yay!     One M9 gets Doze, better control over app permissions, Google Now on Tap and other goodies.   Source: Twitter

HTC One X9 appears on TENAA; future launch imminent

HTC One X9 was spotted last weekend when some TENAA listings were leaked out. The device is being sold as a “pursuit of brilliance packed with city smarts”. What does that mean? We don’t know yet, but we may find out more in the future.       The X9 is a variable of HTC One A9 design-wise, but the lack of a fingerprint reader could point to a cheaper device with overall lower specs. The device shown in photos has BoomSound speakers, plus some capacitive buttons at the front panel. Below you can read what the rest of the speculated specs are:   2.2 GHz quad core processor 2GB of RAM 16GB internal storage plus microSD card slot for more storage 7.99mm thick, 153.2 x 75.9 mm 174g weight.   No details regarding a possible launch were leaked yet. HTC needs a breath of fresh air on the market given its financial issues, and any new smartphone could become a hit. We will have to see if HTC One X9 will manage to get the niche market hyped enough because M9, HTC One M9e and One A9 did not break the Internet this year.   Source: TENAA via AndroidCommunity

HTC A9 Hero leaks in China! See what HTC’s last hope looks like!

HTC A9 Hero was leaked yesterday and it resembles an iPhone through and through. HTC is on a downward spiral at the moment, mainly because of the miscalculated release of its M9, which did not live up to expectation. But things could change.       HTC’s CEO promised investors that stocks will go back up and some pretty last minute plans were put in motion. A late 2015 hero device is supposed to help the company make a comeback, as suggested on the Chinese media platform Weibo, where the Hero device was leaked.   This HTC A9 Hero seems to be the real deal, as it does resemble the M9 quite a bit. Some things were changed, for example the flattened shape of the new device in relation to this spring’s (failed) flagship. This kind of makes it look like an iPhone, if you squint your eyes real hard. The front glass of the device seems curved downward towards the edges and the back of the device has a golden hue.   HTC A9 Hero specs rumor   There is no official information regarding what HTC”s hero device will pack, but rumors put it at a MediaTek Helio X20,4GB of RAM a 3500 mAh battery and a 5.2” QHD screen.   Some say that because the device looks very iPhone-y, a launch in the US would be tricky, and, as a result, it would be an Asia exclusive. We will have to wait for some official news to know more. Until then, stay tuned! […]
