Samsung Galaxy S5 (klte) gets CyanogenMod 13 nightly support

Do you have a Samsung Galaxy S5 but you don’t love your already outdated OS with TouchWiz skins on top? Maybe you will like the CyanogenMod 13 update better, because the CyanogenMod team has been working on an Android Marshmallow functioning ROM version and a nightly is finally out the door.     Since the previous update that Galaxy S5 (klte) got was in October and it was comprised of Android 5.1.1, owners are still going to have to wait for a while before getting the official Marshmallow bit. Of course, when the change gets there, it will have a TouchWiz skin on top and not everyone likes that.   Flashing custom ROMs is still an option and here enters CyanogenMod with the 13 nightly based on Android 6.0. The full download of this file zip comes to 286MB, and you will need the GApps suite to make Google-ly things work.   Of course, you must not forget this is a nightly build, which means it can be packed with bugs and things that will not work as intended. Keep in mind that this ROM version will not work on AT&T carrier versions or on Sprint, Verizon, and US Cellular devices. Flash the custom ROM at your own peril and good luck!   Source: CyanogenMod downloads

Possible Samsung list with Android 6.0 upgradeable devices for 2016

Samsung has not released an official list yet, but online sources say that they know which devices from this OEM get an upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow next year. The aforementioned list includes 12 devices, mostly high-end smartphones, that will get their well-deserved update in 2016. Some devices will get the update later next year.       List of Samsung devices that will get an update to Android 6.0:   Galaxy Note 5 Galaxy Note 4 Galaxy Note 4 Duos Galaxy Note Edge Galaxy S6 Edge + Galaxy S6 Edge Galaxy S6 Galaxy S6 Duos Galaxy S5 Galaxy S5 Neo Galaxy S5 LTE-A.   Considering that a new flagship will come out in 2016, it is nice to see older devices getting the update.   Apart from the aforementioned devices, some older or less-premium-looking devices will get an update to Marshmallow sometime next year. These include:   Galaxy Alpha Galaxy Tab A Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 Galaxy Tab S2 9.7.   Just in case you have one of these devices and are still thinking about upgrading or not, now you can make your decision based on the OTA news.   Of course, take everything with a grain of salt, because this is not official Samsung news. This could be totally or partially true. It can be completely bogus as well.   Source: Android Community

Gear S2 smartwatch appears in fashion shoots

Samsung pulled a fast one on us today when it teased us the new Galaxy Gear S2; we thought we would have to wait until September to know more about it. But now we can at least see it in its entire splendor because it is part of a fashion shoot.         Samsung usually partners with high fashion companies that help them create strange or unique accessories that may make the public cringe. This time the photo shoot was different because it was meant to showcase the newest devices coming out the door. The Easter egg in some of them is the Galaxy Gear S2. The new phones Note 5 and S6 Edge + are also portrayed in a desirable fashion.   The S2 smartwatch appears in two photos and kind of takes the light of the show and it doesn’t even look that big. The photos show a nice mélange between fashion industry and technology. The phones and smartwatch are shown as the most prized possession or ultimate accessory.       The fashion is questionable at best – at least by style editors’ opinion – and some even call it “fashion-for-fashion’s-sake”. Some don’t find these images seductive at all, but is every ad out there really supposed to be sexual and over-sensual in overtly trying to sell a product?   We will have to wait until September for more info on the Gear S2, but when that time comes we will definitely discover what the new smartphone is all about. Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus rumored to have QWERTY keyboard case!

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is rumored and expected to launch at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event on August 13th and until then leaks will keep showing up everywhere. Veteran “leaker” @evleaks has done it again and released a rendered image of a device that looks very much like an Edge smartphone with a QWERTY keyboard case. Could this be the next big thing when it comes to smartphone accessories and fashion?       The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is speculated to be the bigger version of its namesake. It should differentiate in the size of screen and its QHD display plus a possibly better processor: 2,1 GHz Exynos 7420 64-bit. The device will also sport a 16MP rear camera and a 6MP frontal camera, plus 32GB of internal storage to store those beautiful media files of yours.   Evan Blass showed on Twitter that this Android smartphone could present a QWERTY keyboard case too. We’re not sure if we like this image or not, mainly because the Samsung Galaxy device has some nice curves and that innovative double edge screen which would be encased in a piece of chromed alloy if this were to be true. On a different side, it could help folks who find it hard to type out texts on a touchscreen. The case even contains three physical Android navigation keys at the bottom to make everything easier to access.   Nothing is confirmed at the moment, and we are still a few days apart from the event. The Note will have a 5.66” QHD (2560 x 1440) display as well and its stylus pen will not be missing.
