Google posts factory images and binaries for 2013 Nexus 7 and Nexus 10

Google just posted Android 5.0.2 factory images and binaries for the 2013 versions of Nexus 10 and Nexus 7. If you have one of these devices you can be sure you’ll be getting yet another update soon. These devices are already on Android 5.0.1, so that will not be such a big change, especially since other devices still haven’t received Lollipop 5.0.

If you are eager to try the update you can flash the factory images on your device back to stock and it doesn’t matter what you flashed before that. If you can access the fastboot you will be able to flash the image. You can also get binaries with everything you require for running ROMs on the device.

In order to flash sys images you will need an unlocked bootloader that you can get with the help of ADB through a computer. The OTAs will come soon, so if you don’t feel confident with the system images, you can wait for a few more days.

Android 5.0 Lollipop factory images and binaries for Nexus 5, 7, 9 and 10 live on Google Devs

Android 5.0 Lollipop factory images and binaries for the Nexus 5, 7, 9 and 10 are finally live. The full system images were recently uploaded on the Google Developers site and with the new files you can flash your Nexus back to stock even after you threw a hammer on it (metaphorically speaking of course; you would never really do that…. Would you?)!

Nexus binaries

The images posted so far are for Nexus 5, 7 both WiFi models, Nexus 9 and 10. No Nexus 6 image has been posted yet, but we know it is getting an update as well. Nexus 4 for example is not getting the OTA update yet. Binaries for devices with factory images are up as well, save for Nexus 9, whose drivers are on a separate partition.

As soon as you download the desired image, you can flash it directly from your computer in a few easy clicks. You don’t HAVE to wipe your device clean, but you may want to do that just to avoid future troubles.

Lollipop update rolling out to Nexus 5, 6, 7, 9 and 10

Lollipop is reaching out to Nexus 5, 6, 7, 9 and 10. The OTAs have already started rolling out and most Nexus devices are getting their due share of joy while Nexus 9 is getting a small bug fix update.

Of course, as with all big updates, this one will take a few days to reach all devices out there, so be patient. The mobile data versions for the Nexus 7 (versions 2012 and 2013) will take a while to rollout to all devices too, and there is no news on the Nexus 4 update yet.

We will let you know when the update ZIPs will be available for you to manually update your device. Be sure to have an unlocked bootloader or use ADB to manually update. If your device is running on a custom ROM or a developer preview, you will have to get back to stock Android before updating.
