[Free apps] Wildcard – the news managing app you may need in your life

Wildcard is a new curated news discovery app that is gracing the Google Play Store with its presence. This app will rely on news editors to find the right stories for you and to give you the best sources to justly overview events you are interested in.

Wildcard

The stories in Wildcard are organized in series of cards with the main interface presenting the most important stories at the top. Each series of cards will have a number in the corner to show you how many stories you have to check out, and each card has a different source. When you research a story, you get Tweets and news from different sites as well. The bigger stories will present you with snippets to keep things casual and easier to grasp.

Wildcard will let you log in to Twitter to get more content from your stream, but the news stream is mostly guided by editors. When you choose to view a story you can add it in the “card” view, which is a clear reading UI that will load much faster and use less bandwidth in the process. The news you like can be saved on a card list or you can share them on social media. The app itself is free and seems to be “ no strings attached” at the moment. Give it a second look below:

5 Apps for Women – what are your favorite Android apps?

We all have smartphones that we cherish in this day and age and we keep trying to keep ourselves entertained, be it via social media or through apps and games. We try them all, we keep what we like and toss away those pesky in-app purchase apps when they start to bug us too much. But being women, we can find some interesting choices in great apps for women that actually make our lives easier. In the following article I will provide you with five of the most popular and useful apps you can at least try to see if they help you in your womanly day to day routine. Here we go!

Android apps for women

My Fitness Pal

We are always preoccupied with our health or our appearance and, especially since we lead busier and busier lives, we can fall into bad habits that will not help us in any way. This is where My Fitness Pal comes to the rescue as this little free app will help us keep a record of what we eat and how we exercise. It is one of the most popular health and fitness app for women because what it primarily does is count calories and keep track of your daily sports routine.

You can also access blogs, recipes and tips on how to improve your diet and workout routine for better results. You get daily and weekly nutrition goals you can thoroughly investigate, as well as progress charts, daily reminders and you can even sync this app to other fitness and sports apps and even wearables!

Sworkit Pro

Let’s face it1! Our hectic lives leave less and less room for workouts, but we need sports and exercise to stay healthy. A great solution that could help you keep track of your workouts – be they yoga, Pilates, cardio or strength training – is Sworkit Pro. You can also try the Lite version, which is free, or the Pro version that costs $4.99.

The app reminds you to exercise for 15 minutes daily (or more if you want it to) and presents different workout types to choose from, according to what you like to do to keep yourself fit. This way, you get a personal trainer in your smartphone! Simply Work it at home, watch your targeted progress, statistics about your preferred types of workout and set your own exercise intervals.

YouCam Makeup – Makeover Studio

It is one of those beauty enhancer apps for women that will completely change you for the perfect selfie! You can erase imperfections, improve your features, add make up and simply make yourself fabulous without having to use a ton of Photoshop or make up remover or remover wipes afterwards!

This app is also useful when you are willing to try new make up styles on yourself without blindly committing: you just snap a regular selfie photo and then you can add foundation, different eye shades and lashes, you can change the shape and color of your brows and make your eyes pop out… literally! It has some drawbacks of course, but for a free app, this does a pretty good job on Android phones!

Bonus: Facetune

The king of all touch up apps, Facetune is the paid application you can use on your day to day selfie adventures. It is paid and does exactly everything that the YouCam Makeup app does, only maybe a bit better. You can basically retouch every photo or selfie you take with the same degree of difficulty as the previous app, only it gives you a more granular control over what you can change. The app costs $3.99 and it is the Android version of the praised iOS Facetune celebs are always talking about.

New Google Glass project to be aimed at enterprises first

The next Google Glass project phase will be directed at enterprises and it should feature an attachable design which can be clipped on (or something similar) to other eye-wear. There have been lots of rumors circulating over these past few months and some recent news reports may shed some light on the mystery of the Google project.

Google Glass augmented reality

The new iteration of Google Glass will have a curved rectangular form, plus it will also sport a button-and-hinge system that will allow it to attach to different types of glasses, sunglasses and other possible types of eyewear.

It appears that Google is willing to make the project available for healthcare, manufacturing and energy companies. Moreover, it is already being distributed to software developers in order to facilitate the creation of viable applications.

A new consumer version is also in the works, but it will not be seen on the market until as recent as a year from now, sources say. The previous Glass version which was launched last year got a lot of backlash because it was launched to soon and was not ready for consumer use.

The new Google Glass enterprise version should have a faster Intel processor and better wireless connectivity. The device is said to be powered by an external battery pack which connects magnetically and it is supposed to offer a prolonged life time for the device. The accessory will also have a longer and thinner prism display which will be adjustable for more flexibility.

For now, we will only see or hear about Google Glass when it comes to corporate industries and businesses, which is a great starting idea for such technology. Who knows, in the future the world may be more comfortable with using such tech on a daily basis!

HTC Desire 820 announced at IFA Berlin – mid-range device with 64-bit architecture

HTC announced the Desire 820 at IFA Berlin and we are happy to announce a new mid-range device with  64-bit architecture! The One family unibody design is accompanied by a colorful polycarbonate shell this time and it sort of looks like a hybrid between a HTC One M8 and iPhone 5 c.

Desire 820 specs:

  • Octa core 1.8 GHz Snapdragon 615 – 64-bit
  • 2 GB of RAM
  • 16 GB storage + microSD slot
  • 5.5” HD screen
  • 13 MP rear camera
  • 8 MP front-facing camera
  • Cat 4 LTE
  • 2600 mAh battery.

Some regions will have the chance to get a Desire 820 dual SIM variant too.

The 64-bit architecture will not work with the actual Android versions, therefore the device will run on 32-bit architecture until the release of Android L OS.

HTC’s press release doesn’t offer too much information regarding the device and its utility, but we can expect the above specs to be real. The phone is slim, measuring 7.7 mm in thickness and it will get its own custom Dot View case which will be limited to certain territories in the near future.
