Galaxy Nexus gets Android 5.1 via CyanogenMod 12.1 nightly

Galaxy Nexus is as old as time itself in tech years, but that does not mean it is forgotten by everyone. The device will benefit from an update to a slightly older that Marshmallow Android OS version. But hey, anything is good right now, especially for an old device such as this one, right?       The Galaxy Nexus is officially stuck at Android Jelly Bean 4.3. Two years after the device went live there was an official update to KitKat, but the device was deemed unworthy of updating. A great team of CyanogenMod devs thought differently and they finally managed to bring Galaxy Nexus some support. After being trapped on CM11 nightlies and snapshots for over a year, it is time for the device to jump to a CM12.1 nightly. This brings the device to Android 5.1.   Since this is the first nightly, things may not go so well when it comes to daily use, but that does not mean you cannot try some interesting things on the device. The download itself weighs about 248MB. You will also need a Gapps package to make everything google-related work after you install. You can get the CM12.1 download from the source link below.   Source: CyanogenMod

Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch to run on Tizen and change appearance

Samsung ’s next smartwatch is said to be smarter, better and easier to navigate. Plus, is will change its design a little bit and slim its bezels down! The next Galaxy Gear will reportedly have a round rotatable bezel that will be used for navigation and zoom in and out of photos. The round face of the device is a given considering that it will facilitate rotating the bezels for easier content access.       The info was relayed at the Tizen Developer Summit 2015 held in Bangalore, India, last week. This is pretty much all we know about it so far, as no other details were unveiled to the public.   Will the new Galaxy Gear device save Samsung ’s smartwatch line?   The new Samsung smartwatch is codenamed Orbis, but its final name is allegedly Gear A. It is supposed to run on Tizen, Samsung’s own watch software. It is possible that the device will be unveiled on August 13th, at a press event, when the South Korean manufacturer will launch its two phablets, Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus. The gear watches have not been so well received, which means this could be a great step towards acceptance or the final nail in the coffin.   The new Galaxy gear device is rumored to have 768MB of RAM plus 4GB of storage and lots of sensors: a Wi-Fi chip, a GPS and a heart rate sensor, plus a digital crown win an undisclosed function.   Considering the fact that Apple is […]

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge + leaked in photos before launch

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge + were leaked in photos previous to their launch. Considering that Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge have been a huge success for Samsung, these new devices could be a second success because they basically use the same recipe S6 used.   If you have seen a Galaxy S6 Edge, you will definitely recognize the Edge +. It has the same rounded edges as the first device and is basically a bigger version of it. The curved display is accompanied by the same fingerprint scanner button on the front. The device will have the serial number SM – G928A and it will have Android 5.1.1 right out of the box.         The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 has really thin side bezels and a somewhat bigger fingerprint scanner than the other Galaxy 2015 devices. Not many details are given or can be discerned from the photos, but it is supposed to be closer to the S6 in design than other Note phablets.         There’s still some time before the official launch of the devices, so many more leaks can show up until then. Stay tuned!   Source: XDA
