Sony Xperia Z5 review – the world’s best smartphone camera to date?

Sony Xperia Z5 is one of the newer devices on the market and it is trying to re-put Sony on the smartphone market charts after an executive decision of cutting off lots of employees earlier this year. The move did not cut Sony’s daily expenses too much as money is still being siphoned out through the mobile division, but any device being launched could be better than no device at all, right?       It appears that Sony is working on keeping itself relevant on the mobile market to no avail, hoping that the future will need its mobile expertise soon. How does Sony Xperia Z5 fare this year? For one, it is considered the smartphone with the best camera around! The device is basically the dream of every mobile photographer or vlogger out there because not only does it take great photos, but it offers a beautiful display to check them on. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows because one of the biggest problems of the device is the battery. But more on that later on.   Specs and hardware   Xperia Z5 is the latest phone of the line and it does retain the design choices that made Xperia phones must-haves in the past. The Omnibalance design – as branded by Sony – accentuates inoffensiveness and symmetry, but manages to keep the spirit of Sony Xperia alive with every iteration. A few physical differences include a wider and flatter power button that acts as a fingerprint sensor as well, a detail that […]

Huawei Honor 7 available in Europe at a super-price

Huawei Honor 7 was launched in Europe earlier this week and it seems like a smartphone with a deal. For the first few days you can get one for under £250, but the price will go up 20 to 40% in the future.     This Chinese smartphone is part of the Honor brand, a line that became rather popular in Europe since it launched last year. You can also find Honor phones in the US and other non-European areas but without this brand Huawei Honor 7 specs and details   Honor 7 has a premium-looking metallic body and is available in White,Black and Gold versions. The device presents a nice fingerprint sensor on the back of the device, just below the camera. T Mobile’s Samsung Galaxy S6 gets update to Android 5.1.1 plus RAW support

T Mobile is updating its most popular devices these days and now it’s time for Samsung Galaxy S6 to get an official Android 5.1.1 build. With this OTA, Samsung managed to include support for RAW  photography that you can’t use with the stock app at the moment.     The problem seems to be that the Manual Camera testing app reports the RAW support as inexistent but, if you install another camera app, it will confirm that the camera2 API is working. The stock camera does not have an option to enable RAW support at the moment. Since T Mobile is pretty fast in updating its S6 device, we are sure that support for the RAW capture mode will come soon, either in native form or as a downloadable module in the Samsung app store. T Mobile’s HTC One M9 gets camera improvement update, AT&T’s version to get it soon

T Mobile is working on fixing HTC One M9’s camera problems and now you can get the fix yourself because there’s an update out there rolling out to devices as we speak. There was a fix rolling out to Sprint’s M9 devices last week and there will be one for AT&T’s devices soon as well. It seems that Lollipop and its own updates have brought some issues to HTC’s 2015 flagship.     One M9’s camera has suffered but HTC is working on fixing it, although the results still don’t match other high-end Android devices. The update brings the device to software version 1.32.531.33 and was posted a few days ago on T Mobile’s official support page. The update itself will begin rolling out on Monday though, with some devices receiving it starting today, according to Mo Versi, HTC’s VP of Product Management. Apart from the camera improvement, HTC M9 is also getting minor changes such as Blinkfeed improvements and user interface improvements. The download is around 88MB and it can be downloaded via Wi-Fi connection. AT&T is secured as well, since Mo Versi says its upgrade will start rolling out on Monday as well. [MWC] Lenovo Vibe Shot – a camera-focused smartphone with a 16MP camera

Lenovo didn’t only launch a tablet today at MWC, but a smartphone as well. Lenovo Vibe Shot is a Lollipop device with rather large camera sensors in the front and on the back. Its most important features are the 16MP back camera and 8 MP front snapper, adorned with optical image stabilization, tri-color LED flash and infrared autofocus. The device will launch in June in selected markets and its price will start at $349.     Vibe Shot has a potent spec under its chassis, making it look like a high mid-range device at a great price. This being said, under the cover you will find a Snapdragon 615 processor with 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage plus a microSD card slot. It also has the 5” screen with a full HD resolution. The phone itself looks very good with a light frame, a 7.3mm profile AND a 2900 mAh battery. The device launches with Android 5.0 and it will have LTE and a dual-SIM function. Another interesting feature is the manual shutter button which makes Vibe Shot look like a retro super-portable point and shoot camera.     Sadly, there’s a great chance that Lenovo Vibe Shot will not make it to the US and European markets. Considering that Lenovo holds the Motorola brand, it will not push any more lines outside the Asia-Pacific market. The official press release mentions that the Vibe will be available on all markets where Lenovo sells smartphones at the price of $349 though. Source: Lenovo

Android 5.0 Lollipop SDK available tomorrow

The new Android 5.0 Lollipop SDK will be available to all those devs who enjoy testing, building and debugging apps for Android starting tomorrow. The ADT bundle will offer you all the API libraries and developer tools you can want or need to develop your own apps. Developers will be able to play with Lollipop’s features and solve bugs as well as create their own. Among the features you can meddle with are JobScheduler, the camera API, and other performance improvements. The final SDK is also helpful in testing apps and making sure they are ready to run on the updated Android Lollipop devices and not on the preview OS version. You should get all of your tools updated before getting the SDK as you will be facing tons of compiling. Source: Developer Android   [wdsm_ad id=”1484″ class=” ” ]
