Media Tek is working on a new 64-bit octa-core LTE chip, the first of the bunch for the company! Apparently, the company does not have the best reputation regarding source code and timely releases, which means it will lose a lot when it comes to the competitive Android world, but this new project which is close to completion will give it a nice edge over the competition… let’s hope so, at least.
Today, Media Tek announced its first 64-bit octa-core processor destined for smartphones. It bears the number MT6795 and has a maximum speed of 2.2 GHz. It appears it will support native 2K displays and processes slow motion videos at 480fps in 1080p.
It appears that the release will be around the end of the year, but we are not sure it will get out of the Asian market too soon. The possibility of releasing the source code along with the chip is all that remains for the fans at the moment. What do you think of this announcement?
