Yuphoria phone gets Cyanogen OS 12.1 OTA

Yu’s Yuphoria phone will soon run on CyanogenMod 12.1, which is a customized version of Android 5.1. The phone has been available for half a year now in India. Its problem has been that its availability was in form of a CyanogenMod nightly that users had to flash a custom recovery and a custom ROM in order to access.       It was recently announced that a ready to use consumer-ready update of the stock software build is now ready for rollout. The Yuphoria phone has a YOG4PAS47N build which is an Android 5.1/Cyanogen OS 12.1 build. The upgrade brings devices to build number YNG1TBS2P2. After the earliest rollout will be completed and tests for bugs are resolved, the manually fastboot files will be released.   Apart from the usual features in Android 5.1, Yuphoria’s update will also include a redesigned launcher, a smart screen function where you can automatically adjust screen settings, a new version of AudioFx, a wider range of media codec support and a combined calendar with email function.   Source: Yu Yuphoria via AndroidPolice

Cyanogen Inc. still in good partnership with YU, despite rumors

Cyanogen Inc. decided to split from OnePlus last year but they didn’t remain stranded as they continued to strive for an exclusive partnership with Micromax under the YU brand popular in India. Since then, YU has launched some pretty popular devices running on Cyanogen OS, but the latest Yuphoria phone does not run on this OS. Cyanogen says everything is peachy despite this fact.     The phone in question is Yuphoria, and it was launched earlier this year initially running on Cyanogen OS. It is basically a mid-range device with a price-tag of around $100. This model is no longer available, though, as the new model – YU5010A – is running on Android 5.1.1 stock and it costs a little less.   There is a statement coming from Cyanogen officials where they assure their customers that the partnership with YU is not in danger. Moreover, the newest OS version, 12.1, will power the newest Yutopia device. In addition, the Yureka Plus and the Yureka will get updated to 12.1 as well.   Yutopia will be the first flagship-level device that Cyanogen Inc. will power in terms of operating system, it appears. YU didn’t make any comment, but the decision of launching a device running on a competing OS is strange, even if Cyanogen assures everyone that there are one-off models that they will not support.   Source: AndroidPolice

YUphoria and YUreka are getting CyanogenMod 12.1 nightly support

The YUphoria and YUreka are getting an update to CyanogenMod 12.1 nightlies if you are willing to accept the bugs that come with this build as your own. Both devices are basically Cyanogen OS phones from India made by Micromax subsidiary YU.     Yuphoria is a mid-range device that competes with Moto G and other similarly constructed devices. Its nightly is codenamed lettuce and it brings about CyanogenMod 12.1, a custom ROM version based on Android 5.1. The ZIP archive measures 365MB. The Yureka also has an update in the form of a 12.1 nightly codenamed tomato. This device has a more powerful Snapdragon 615 and a slightly larger price as well. Its nightly measures around 366B. These two Yu devices run on Cyanogen out of the box which means that flashing a new CyanogenMod version will not make such a striking difference as it happens with changing TouchWiz or Sense UI for example. The nightly builds are updated on a daily basis and bugs are sorted out as soon as they are signaled. Stability issues may appear if you do flash this nightly, so tread carefully. Micromax launches YUphoria – Cyanogen OS mid-range smartphone – and fitness trackers YUFit and HealthYU

A new mid-range Cyanogen OS phone will soon start selling in India, and it is named YUphoria. Why this name, you ask? Because the device shares the same line with YUreka, another device already on the Hindu market.       Micromax is Cyanogen Inc’s exclusive partner in India, and it is responsible for the YU line which will include the Yuphoria device starting next month. The device itself will sell exclusively through Amazon and it will be clad in white/gold and black/silver. Under the hood you find a Snapdragon 410 chip, 2 GB of RAM, an 8MP snapper with f/2.2 aperture and a 2230 mAh battery. They’re all tucked in under the 5” LCD screen at 720p. It is basically the same as a Moto G device spec-wise.     The smartphone will run on Cyanogen 12 at launch and it will present Truecaller dialer support. Its release date is set for May 28th when it starts selling at $109 or Rs 6,999.     This is not all from the YU line as Micromax also announced fitness tracking devices: HealthYU and YUFit. HealthYU has an advanced health sensor that you can carry in your pocket (?) and take out whenever you want to read your health data whereas YUFit is a smartband that will track activity via an OLED screen.   HealthYu also reads temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, oxygenation and respiration and it syncs the data to most apps and devices out there. The smartband sells for $16 or Rs 999 whereas […]
