T Mobile’s Sony Xperia Z3 gets OTA to Lollipop plus a few nice tweaks from the carrier

Sony Xperia Z3  from T Mobile is finally getting its own OTA to Lollipop and it gets something more thrown in the mix too! T Mobile’s customized Xperia Z3 is getting to Android 5.0 and it’s helped by a feature allowing enabling access to band 12, a 700MHz LTE band the US carrier has been using since the beginning of 2015.     Apart from getting to Lollipop, the Z3 is also getting the band 12 support and minor VoLTE improvements and device stability fixes. The OTA is getting out there in waves, so it may take a few days to get yours if you have such a device from T Mobile. This change brings the device to build number 23.1.C.0.385 and it comes exclusively over Wi-Fi connections, therefore you can check your Sony PC Companion Windows program if you want to manually upgrade. Remember: any root or recovery mods will most likely make the update fail, and after updating, any changes will make the phone ineligible for updates. Source: T Mobile

Sony Xperia Z3 back on T Mobile’s mobile offer list

Sony Xperia Z3 is back on T mobile’s best-selling list. The device was out of the carrier’s offer earlier this month and it was also removed from the website. Things change though, and the phone is already back on T Mobile’s official offer list.     Xperia Z3 is back at a discounted price nonetheless, and you can only get it in black. You can get it for $499.92, down from $630. That roughly means 24 payments of $20.83, if you don’t want to pay full price at once. Just in case the device is on its way out the T Mobile window, you should buy it if you want a Sony flagship experience. Source: T Mobile

Sony Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact and the Z3 Compact tablet get CyanogenMod support

Sony Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact and the Z3 Compact tablet are getting CyanogenMod nightlies as we speak. You can find the files in the CyanogenMod  download section. The Z3 Compact WiFi version got its support a few days ago as well.     They are all CM12 builds, which means you will also get Lollipop juiciness with them. In order to install the nightlies you will need an unlocked bootloader and many Sony phones support bootloader unlocking through their dev program, but it could affect camera performance in some phones. Be warned. Considering you will be working with nightlies, you can be sure there will be bugs to be had. Don’t forget to back up your device before tinkering. Source: CyanogenMod via Androidpolice

Sony Xperia Z3 available on T Mobile online starting October 15th and in stores starting October 29th

Sony Xperia Z3 is now officially available on T Mobile online starting October 15th and in stores starting October 29th. Sony’s flagship was expected for a while now and it has finally arrived in T Mobile stores as well. If you’re that eager to get yours, you can order it online and it will be shipped at your door well before it becomes available in stores. Xperia Z3 has a 20.3 MP camera as most of Sony’s phones have had recently and, apart from that, you will get a 5.2” 1080p screen, with a Snapdragon 801 processor and 3 GB of RAM running on a 3100 mAh battery. As usual, the phone is dust and water resistant and it appears to be the standard Z3 model and not the Z2-ish device Verizon is selling under the name Xperia Z3v.   Sony Xperia Z3 will be available for purchase at $26.25 per month on a 24-month plan or $360 paid full up front.
