Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy S4 gets small OTA update fixing power crash issues

Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy S4 is getting a small OTA update in order to fix some power cycle issues, among other things. In case your S4 has been rebooting on its own, you should look for the update already, as Verizon already worked on fixing this issue. The device is not getting Lollipop, but it is fixing the unexpected crashing sessions you have been bugged about lately.

The other change coming with the OTA is the VPN connectivity fix. It appears that Verizon has been working on its S4s for a while now, as more than one small OTAs have been rolling out already. Before flashing the KOT49H.I54VRUFNK1 software version you should remember that any modification to the system or its recovery will be leading to a flash error, and if you already have root on your device, you may lose it post-update.

Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy S4 gets OTA update including better connectivity and Knox 2.0

Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy S4 gets an update including Knox 2.0 and improved connectivity options. Even if Galaxy S4 is not getting a new version of Android, that doesn’t mean it’s not getting some updates to make it look good too. According to the new update, the device users should see a more reliable messaging app, consistent voicemail and stronger Bluetooth connections.

The update also brings ISIS Wallet (in its new name Softcard) and Knox 2.0 along with Side Sync Call Forwarding Framework and Kids Mode Stub, a parental control option for managing phone usage. You get extra Cancel and Apply buttons on your Home Screen Mode as well. It appears that the keyboard is transitioning better when it is removed from the desktop dock station.

CyanogenMod nightlies for the international Samsung Galaxy S4 Active device

CyanogenMod nightlies are now available for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active. The ruggedized device is getting some love as it is not a weak or shallow handset whatsoever, therefore those who liked it but can’t stand the TouchWiz interface can go ahead and make the purchase in the hope of flashing it with the cyan experience. The international Galaxy S4 Active device is getting its own nightlies from CyanogenMod today and you can head out HERE to download the file and start tinkering.

The build was specifically created for the international model number i9295, but some AT&T users can find a workaround in unlocking their bootloader and making their Samsung Active device their own. They can try the SafeStrap Bypass system but beware; the flash can prove to be an extreme risk!

      Active S4 Nightly

As usual, CyanogenMod nightlies can bring about some bugs and other problems you may want to steer away from, especially if you’re not too accustomed to Android flashing and ROMs – at least for a while, until a more stable version appears. The Gapps ZIP will also help you get access to Google Play Store and other Google services once you flash your ROM. Enjoy!

Sprint’s Samsung Galaxy S4 receives OTA update – HD Voice icon and security fix included

Samsung Galaxy S4 from Sprint is finally getting an update with minor enhancements. Sprint’s version of S4 is getting an over-the-air OTA software update with the version number L720VPUFNG2 and it offers minor improvements such as a HD Voice icon and some security fixes.

You don’t have to abuse that update button as it will roll out pretty soon by itself. The HD Voice icon is a representation of the service which increases the sounding speech in a clearer manner even if it works only when both users have the service on their devices. The most important devices that have this service are iPhones and Samsung devices, which means that the feature affects more people than you think!

It is an update people will not be eager to implement; therefore a few days of waiting will not kill anyone. It may take a few days to receive the update, and most will not care that much about it anyway.
