YUphoria and YUreka are getting CyanogenMod 12.1 nightly support

The YUphoria and YUreka are getting an update to CyanogenMod 12.1 nightlies if you are willing to accept the bugs that come with this build as your own. Both devices are basically Cyanogen OS phones from India made by Micromax subsidiary YU.

YU Yuphoria

Yuphoria is a mid-range device that competes with Moto G and other similarly constructed devices. Its nightly is codenamed lettuce and it brings about CyanogenMod 12.1, a custom ROM version based on Android 5.1. The ZIP archive measures 365MB.

The Yureka also has an update in the form of a 12.1 nightly codenamed tomato. This device has a more powerful Snapdragon 615 and a slightly larger price as well. Its nightly measures around 366B.

These two Yu devices run on Cyanogen out of the box which means that flashing a new CyanogenMod version will not make such a striking difference as it happens with changing TouchWiz or Sense UI for example.

The nightly builds are updated on a daily basis and bugs are sorted out as soon as they are signaled. Stability issues may appear if you do flash this nightly, so tread carefully.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 gets official CyanogenMod support with a nightly

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 finally gets official CyanogenMod support. The new nightlies are destined to the WiFi version of the tablet with the codename klimtwifi.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is already one year and a half old now, which means it will be easier to find on sale or on a good deal than the fresh flagships and devices of 2015. Usually, if you are willing to flash and run custom ROMs on a device for the first, second or n-th time, you may want to pick cheaper device where your financial investment is much lower.

You may as well be tired of TouchWiz, which makes this nightly all the more appealing. You can download TWRP while you’re at it, it will help you a lot. You can find the nightly link in the source link.

OnePlus One to get Cyanogen 12S update in mid March

OnePlus One will be getting an OS update as soon as March, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei mentioned in a Twitter message today. The company’s first and only phone is getting an update to CyanogenMod 12S in late March, about the same time OxygenOS will be making its appearance.

CM Tweet

Pei also noted that the 90-day deadline set to bring the phone to Android 5.0 failed because of some “proprietary drivers, QA, codes and certifications”.

OnePlus had a nasty divorce from Cyanogen Inc., meaning that an update could have been dead from the get-go. We’re not sure if there will be a CM13S update for the One but it is possible that OxygenOS will take over and it could become OPO’s future.
