Motorola Moto X Play could be your choice if you want a cheaper flagship in 2015. The device is paired with the Moto X Style – the full-fledged Motorola flagship for 2015 – this is basically a maxed out version of it too, with only slightly lower specs.
Moto X Play has a slightly smaller 5.5” 1080p screen paired with the same 21MP and 5MP camera sensors. The smaller screen is powered by a 3630 mAh battery plus Turbo charging, which allegedly brings phone usage to around 48 hours straight before needing another charge. Under the hood you will find a Snapdragon 615 processor plus 2GB of RAM. You will be able to pick a 16GB or 32GB storage version with a microSD slot.
The Moto X Play has a smaller and thicker body than other Moto devices, and it retains the same water resistance feature other Motorola devices have. It will have access to Moto Maker but it will probably only get plasticky cases. The device will run on Android 5.1.1 right out of the box.
The downside for some markets is that the device will not be available globally, the US being one of the countries where Moto X Play will not be making an appearance. It will be available in some parts of Europe, Canada and Latin America starting August. There is no official price out yet, but it is supposed to be cheaper than Moto X Style ($399.99).
The Moto Maker project is finally launched in China and the first deals you get are related to promotional price of Lenovo’s newly-acquired Moto line. Customers in China will finally be able to enjoy what the rest of the world has been basking in lately – the ability of customizing their Moto devices.
The Moto Maker is limited to the Moto X at the moment, with Lenovo giving out discounts and promotions on Moto X, G and the Moto X Pro until June 2nd. The Moto X will be available for RMB2,699 and customized versions will start selling at RMB2,799. The Moto G will cost RMB999 and the X Pro will cost RMB3,999.

Motorola Moto X 2014 is back with a vengeance in its new red as fire leather outfit! If you live in France, UK, Germany or the US, you can now order a red Horween leather back panel for your Moto X2014 just to match your phone with your designer shoes!
The upgrade itself is $25 in the US, just like all the other options, and you can even engrave it. For $50 or $100 you can add 32GB or 64GB of additional storage. The red leather option is available to all unlocked and carrier-discounted phones from AT&T and Verizon. The actual color of the coat could be a little different from what you see as in images it is shown a few hues brighter than the color seen in the Moto Maker.
Don’t forget this is real leather coming from a real cow so if you have an issue with that you should not buy it. Also, it will not be as durable as a usual plastic back. In time, it will absorb oils from you skin, which will deteriorate its appearance, making it look worn. But that could be a good thing for some people.
