Motorola Moto G to update to Android Lollipop in the following weeks

Moto G is Motorola’s best-selling low-level smartphone at the moment, and it seems to be a lucky device as well, since it is one of the first on the market to get the update to Android Lollipop 5.0. The update release notes document shows Moto G in its list of updated devices, which means the actual update is closer than you thought. But first, some will get the soak test as not everyone gets the update instantly.

A most interesting aspect of the update is that Moto G will not sport the vanilla Lollipop experience. You will find Motorola apps to go with the update as well.

As it happened last year, when the Moto family received the KitKat update just a few weeks after the Nexus lineup release, this year the new Moto family is getting the upgrade to Lollipop 5.0.

In the next two weeks you can be sure that your Motorola Moto G (if you have one) will get its due update.

AT&T brings 2013 Motorola Moto G LTE in its stores starting October 10

2013’s Motorola Moto G LTE will reach AT&T stores starting October 10th. Even if the new Moto G is here, it only has 3G, and AT&T is not ok with it, which is why they are bringing back last year’s Motorola G with 4G LTE. The device is not that old yet, and it has a pretty decent price at $179.99 without a contract, which makes it cheaper than the Amazon offer.

Moto G 2013 has a 4.5” 720p LCD display and runs on a Snapdragon 400 processor with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage which allows a microSD up to 32 GB. It also sports a 5 MP primary sensor and a secondary 1.3MP snapper.

If the off-contract price is still too much for you, you can try the Next 18 plan for $7.50 per month or the Next 12 plan for $9 a month. If you’re looking for a phone on a bargain with a one-year contract, AT&T lowers the price at $79.99.

Sunshine bootloader unlock tool supports Motorola Droid Mini, Ultra, Max and other 4.4.4 Motorola devices

Sunshine bootloader unlock tool is now available for other Motorola devices, not only the Moto X we talked about in a previous article. Many users choose to tinker and bake their Android device by using the most stable software on the market.

Carriers and hardware manufacturers can try to lock their devices but they will not be able to stop the avalanche of hackers and modders out there whose constant work relies on finding solutions for free and user-friendly devices. Most Motorola owners have been waiting for reliable methods for unlocking their bootloaders and Sunshine just put a stop on the wait.

The unlock tool now offers support to Motorola Droid Mini, Ultra, Max and other 4.4.4 Motorola devices out there. All carrier-specific Moto Gs are now supported by the tool and even some Motorola 2013 devices can be unlocked as long as they already run on Android 4.4.3 or above.

The most secure way of finding out if your device is supported is to install Sunshine apk, and it will check for support by itself. If your device is supported and you can  unlock your device, you will be charged $25 USD!

The update is a bug fixer in most cases so you won’t find that much exciting news in between the lines. Among the solved problems are some security vulnerabilities and some stability issues. The update brings some interesting genuine design changes as well, including a new layout for the phone dialer and the option of pausing during a video recording in the camera app.
