Cortana app from Windows officially available for Android, iOS and OnePlus One

Microsoft’s virtual assistant Cortana is finally out of beta. For starters, the app will be available in the US and China, but more competing markets will emerge later. Starting today, if you are in the US or China you can download the virtual assistant for your Android device, for the iPhone and for the Windows 10 smartphone. Cyanogen OS-powered devices will also be able to get in on the fun as OnePlus One will integrate support for the VI with the 12.1.1 Cyanogen OTA.

Cortana app

Basically, Cortana lets you track reminders and notifications across platforms, plus you can ask your own questions. You also get different features based on which platform you use the app.

Cortana for Android lets users ask questions via the “Hey Cortana” command. This feature is available in the app or on the home screen. You also get notifications on a Windows 10 PC. These features will not be available for Apple products because iOS will not be opened fast enough to make support for them. You also get the option of testing features on your Android device.

Cortana features:

• Set and get location and time reminders across your PC and phone.
• Get notified and send a quick text reply from your PC if you miss a call on your phone*.
• Track packages, flights, scores, stocks, and other important info across your PC and phone.
• Use Cortana’s Notebook to view, edit and manage your interests.
• Get information and answers to all kinds of questions. If you’re looking for it, Cortana can help find it.
• Have a little fun in your down time — ask anything, get jokes, and much more.

When it comes to Cyaongen, the app will be pre-installed and it will allow the usage of the Hey Cortana command in any app or screen. The virtual assistant can be used at doing things like powering down the phone or putting it into silence mode or changing network modes. The app does work best on Windows phones though, because there is where it offers the most features, but Cyanogen phones come pretty close.

In order to run the Cortana app you need a device running on Android 4.1.2 or iOS 8. Give the app a look below if you are interested in this virtual assistant that works cross-platform:

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus unveiled today! on sale starting September 19

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were unveiled today at the special event held by Apple at Cupertino. It will become available on the market on September 19th and until then we can accustom ourselves better with the device. Design-wise, it is much larger and rounder than the former incarnations of the seventh and lesser generations of iPhone, but other than that, not many apparent changes can be seen.

iPhone 6’s price will start from $199 on a two year contract whereas the phablet-sized iPhone 6 Plus will have a price starting from $299 on contract.

Apple seems to have drifted apart from the squared-off design of its previous model and it finally opted for a more curved and rounded edge with the eight generation of phones. iPhone 6 is 6.9 mm thick whereas the 6 Plus is a tad thicker, at 7.1 mm, but still thinner than the iPhone 5S and its robust 7.6mm.

The new Apple smartphone has a 4.7” LED back-lit display running at 1334x750p (326 ppi) dubbed the Retina HD display that seems small and lackluster when opposed to the iPhone 6 Plus and its 5.5” full HD 1920 x 1080p (401 ppi) screen.

Both devices have A8 64-bit second generation processors paired with M8 new-generation motion coprocessors and 1 GB of RAM (only?) each.

When it comes to selfies and photos, the phone offers an 8MP iSight lens sensor that can shoot videos at HD resolution in Slo-mo as well. The front-facing FaceTime camera is HD now and allows in up to 80% more light. The Plus phablet however may sport a 13 MP primary camera, but most reports show it will have the same 8 MP sensor as the iPhone 6.

Both iPhone 6 and 6 Plus will have CAT 4 LTE, offering speeds of up to 150Mbps and support LTE coverage for up to 20 bands in over 200 networks all over the world.

The 4.7” version will be powered by a 1800 mAh battery whereas the 5.5” phablet will receive a 2500 mAh battery. Both devices are said to run on the new iOS 8 which will, in turn, be compatible with the Apple Watch also revealed today!

Both devices will be available in 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB versions in Silver, Gold and Space Gray color options. The off-contract prices begin at $649 for the iPhone 6 and at $749 for the iPhone 6 Plus and reach $949 for the 128 GB iPhone 6 Plus device.

In accordance with the new king on the market, prices for the off-contract iPhone 5S and 5C are lowered to $549 for the 8/16 GB version and $599 for the 32 GB 5S version.
