HTC is doing some updates and, by now – if you have one of the targeted devices – you should have already received the update to Android Marshmallow. The devices in question are HTC One A9 and HTC One M9. The devices are getting an ota to 6.0.1 and 6.0 respectively, which makes Mo Versi’s promise made earlier this month true.
HTC’s Mo Versi announced the update on Twitter yesterday. This brings HTC’s 2015 flagship to Marshmallow Android OS capacity and A9 to max Android speed. This also includes the new Android emojis for A9. Yay!
One M9 gets Doze, better control over app permissions, Google Now on Tap and other goodies.
Black Friday is already upon us, at least when it comes to some deals you can already enjoy, but tomorrow all hell will break loose in stores and supermarkets. HTC has its own sale this weekend and you too can benefit if you choose to buy something from them.
HTC’s US web store is starting its holiday season sales on Black Friday and the first killer deal is Nexus 9. Starting November 25th at 9PM you can buy a Nexus 9 at %40 off , which is $240-360. This deal lasts until November 27th at 9PM. As soon as this sale is over, all the HTC accessories on the site will go down %40 until November 29th at 9PM.
The final HTC sale will begin on November 29th at 9PM and it will last until December 2nd at 11:59PM. This time, you will be able to get a RE camera for %60 off ($80) with free protection pack and an HTC One M9 at %40 off( $390 down from $650).
All these Black Friday promotions last while supplies last, which means you have to hurry up if you really want to get something good.
Which HTC smartphones are getting the Android 6.0 treatment? Well, the Marshmallow can’t come to ALL devices out there, so we have to cut some back and let some bask in the glory of Google’s most recent operating system. HTC is still working on giving its customers a decent experience despite their own financial problems, and their most recent work with Google is supposed to help.
There were no official announcements made yet, but some sites say that some HTC devices will get Android 6.0 soon. Is your smartphone among them? See below!
HTC smartphones getting the Android 6.0 Marshmallow treatment:
HTC One M8
HTC One M8s
HTC M8 EYE
HTC One E8
HTC Desire EYE
HTC Desire 816
HTC Desire 820
HTC Desire 826
HTC One M9
HTC One M9+
HTC One ME HTC One E9
HTC One E9+
HTC Butterfly 2
HTC Butterfly 3.
The leak comes from MaximusHD ROM and XDA developer LlabTooFeR, who shared the info over Twitter a few days ago. He also noted that these are just preliminary tests and that other devices may never taste the Marshmallow because their hardware can’t afford it.
HTC is the first manufacturer to already make a list with upgradeable smartphones as there are no other similar leaks form other mobile manufacturers. The new Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X are the first devices to get Android 6.0 though, as always.
If you don’t have enough cash for an HTC One M9 laying around and, to be honest, if you don’t want the hassle of a faulty camera and overheating issues, you can choose the much more affordable HTC Desire 625. It is an exclusive for Verizon Wireless that almost anyone can afford.
The Desire line usually manages to get the important aspects of the flagship and transform them into an affordable device. And they usually cost much less than a flagship too.
HTC Desire 625 is the most recent addition to this line and it presents itself as a smartphone with a plastic white and gold body, but a nice and smooth finish. It costs just about $192 in the US where you can get it at Verizon on contract for $8 per month for 24 months too.
What’s inside the HTC Desire 625?
When it comes to specs, this device cannot be farther from the 2015 flagship. Under the chassis you will find a measly Snapdragon 210 plus 1.5 GB of RAM. Everything is projected on a 5” screen at 720x960p resolution and powered by a 2000 mAh battery. The good part is the 16GB of internal storage plus a microSD card slot. The device also has a rear 8MP camera that will not make the best photos, but you know, 2014 is not that far away and last year’s mobile cameras are not that bad..
HTC Desire 625 comes with Android 5.1 and Sense 7 UI on top. You also get 4G LTE support for all Verizon-friendly areas.
HTC One M9 from Verizon got an update to Android 5.1 plus some security changes and upgrades along the way. Mo Versi, the VO of HTC, released the info on his Twitter account yesterday and here is what you will be getting out of this.
HTC One (M9) Verizon customers! Received approval for L5.1 which will OTA out tomorrow. Includes Stagefright fix,Band 3 & 7 enabled -roaming
Apart from the Android 5.1 update, your One M9 will be getting additional LTE bands for roaming plus Stagefright patches. After the install, users will get the same Android 5.1 improvements that other smartphone users have been enjoying so far. Of course, you will also get the revamped do-not-disturbed settings and the Stagefright patches.
HTC One M9 has support for Verizon’s LTE bands and this OTA will enable a few more for roaming needs. The new bands are 3 for 1800 MHZ, and 7 for 2600 MHz. These will basically be useful for Africa, the Middle East, Central and South America, Asia and Europe.
HTC One M9 from AT&T is getting an OTA to Android 5.1 as we speak. The device is also getting some camera improvements along the way, so hit that Update button now if you haven’t already been prompted to update already.
The announcement was made official on Twitter yesterday by Mo Versi, the HTC Vice President of Product Management.
The camera improvements include noise reduction and accurate colors production in extreme lighting conditions. This should mean that users unimpressed by the camera issues on HTC One M9 may get a better experience now. The rest of the update is the usual Android improvements we already know and love.
