Facebook Messenger app video calling feature is finally available worldwide

Facebook is one of the most popular social media platforms out there, so every little change must be calculated. When the Messenger app received video calling in select countries, everyone else wanted it. The time has come and you can now video call with people via Facebook on your mobile device.

However, Facebook did not list the included countries but mentioned the video calling service will be available everywhere there’s quality internet infrastructure available. There have been reports saying that people from Romania, Egypt, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates or Sri Lanka don’t have the service yet and official employees responded by saying that local operators are blocking the service. If you don’t have video calling on the Facebook Messenger app, it could be your local operator’s fault.

There is no need for an update to the app if you already have the latest version of the Messenger app.

Facebook launches Riff – a video sharing app that lets you collaborate with friends!

Facebook just launched a new app in the form of Riff, a video making application where friends can get together and make videos by using this social network. It’s not a joke, folks, this is really happening!

Riff

Riff will let users shoot videos up to 20 seconds long and share them on Facebook for the rest of the world to see. You get no editing tools and you cannot upload videos you film outside of this app. You basically record, review the result and if you like it you post it online.

The goal for this app is not to get the most likes but to add your original videos. This way, everyone can make small clips based on the same theme for example, and everyone’s personal taste and creativity comes through. Friends can thus create series of videos where everyone contributes something and this way a project is spread throughout a community and maybe the world!

Riff is free to use, but you need a Facebook account to be able to record videos with it.

It appears though that this update is rolling out to lucky users, because there is no APK available at this moment and there is no beta you can apply to either. Ghostery – the privacy browser that keeps ad networks and trackers at bay

Ghostery is just the piece of software you need to keep you safe on the internet. Usually, when you browse, buy and click, you share some of your information on ad networks, be it through Facebook, Google or other social media and click-bait links, because everyone is looking for your activity and ways to get your money in the end. With this Privacy Browser, you can learn more about data collection companies and you can block them from tracking your activity.

Ghostery

Ghostery is a fully functional web browser that you can configure to browse the mobile web with better load times and more privacy. When you load a page, the little ghost icon on the address bar will allow you to see how many ad trackers you can find on the said page. Thus, you can decide which to block and which to let do their work, or you can whitelist the site altogether.

While using the browser, you can contribute data about trackers and let devs work on them with sites and companies. The devs track trackers instead of tracking you!

Godus – a new mobile game where you can play God

Godus is now available on Android device and, if you like playing the benevolent god card, you’re in for a treat. This little game began its journey on the PC but now it appears to have successfully transitioned to the smaller tactile screens. You can find the game free on Play Store.

In Godus you become the all-seeing hand which tries to nurture little stone-aged villagers transcend to better and more civilized lives. You can influence earth and water to make your climate better and as your little humans grow in power, so does your own: you can bless forests and crops and start fires too, as you can’t be a great god without some smiting, you know.

The game is in active development on OSX and Windows platforms and it comes from the developer Peter Molyneux, who is responsible for hits like Black and White, Dungeon Keeper and the predecessor Populous.

Godus gets multiplayer interaction through Facebook, where your world can be linked to other player’s world. The game is free to play which means it has some in-app ads and purchases too, just to get that extra currency for your power boost.

Asphalt Overdrive – endless racing for Android 4.0 or higher

Asphalt Overdrive is the newest addition to one of the most popular mobile racing games of the century! This little game is not as pompous as the previous Asphalt 8: Airborne in the sense that we’re not talking about an arcade racing game similar to Need for Speed, but a lane-based endless racer where the player is trying to run away from the police in 1980s California.

In order to play this little game you will need an Android device updated to 4.0 or higher.

Each stage you have to run from the cops and you’re given a head start; moreover, you can earn nitro speed if you complete certain tricks or kill honest motorists you find on the road. You will find real licensed cars in the game, all classics from the 1980s and earlier.

Asphalt connects the user to Facebook for the obvious social elements such as friend gangs and tournaments. The gameplay is pretty easy and all you have to do to control your car is swipe the screen countless times, which is why some mobile gamers expecting a proper racing game may be put off.

Asphalt Overdrive is a free game which means, of course, it has in-app purchases that you can’t escape. The dual-currency model is rather annoying as the in-app currency is easily depleted. The only solution is the fake money purchase made with real money, of course, but if you are determined enough and don’t mind waiting or challenging yourself, you can come out a victor.
