[Deal of the week] Tales of the Borderlands Episode 1 free on Google Play!

Just in case you are looking for the mobile game deal of the week, look no more, Tales of the Borderlands is here and it’s free!!! This adventure coming from Telltale Games has been around on the Google Play store for a while, but it made you take out $5 from your virtual wallet for the first episode.

Tales of the borderlands

Now, you can get the first episode for free! It’s all a ploy to get you to like the series in order to buy the rest of the episodes, but it’s OK, we understand.

Tales of the Borderlands is just like any other Telltale Games title because it lets you choose your own story with little action moments blended around. This game is based on the Borderlands 2 adventure which reached every console in 2012. In the mobile game, you will control the actions of Rhys, a Hyperion “Suit” with dreams of greatness, and Fiona, a Pandoran con artist, on the unforgiving lands of the alien planet Pandora.

Apart from the free first episode, you also have another deal: you can get the season pass for the next four episodes at 20% off for $15. Episode 5 named The Vault of the Traveler is not available yet, but it will be officially announced tomorrow. Give the first episode a look below:

AT&T purchase of DirecTV facilitates launch of new TV wireless package

AT&T will launch its own TV wireless package sometime in the near future, reports say. This decision comes right after the US carrier finished its acquisition of satellite TV driving force DirecTV.

The launch of this telecom giant’s new nationwide packages of TV and wireless services will begin on August 10.

AT&T DirecTV

This is not the first time bundles such as this show up but it is the first time one provider offers them after purchasing another service company. AT&T’s offer includes HD and DVR services for up to four TV receivers and support for DirecTV and AT&T’s U-verse where it is possible. The features also include unlimited talking and texting for up to four wireless lines and 10GB of data for $200 a month. For this money you also get basic video services if you are new U-verse and DirecTV customers. The company says that this way you are saving up to $600 in the first year.

New AT&T DirecTV customers will also get access to TV channels on their mobile devices in an attempt to promote AT&T’s walk out and watch TV experience. Customers will choose from a variation of video packages available in most of the US states.

The acquisition of DirecTV made AT&T the largest pay TV provider in the world and in the US, as the media titan already has more than 55 million subscribers in the US, Caribbean and Latin America. These numbers will only increase in the next month.

Cyanogen Inc seals the deal with Playphone in including the app and game distributor in Cyanogen OS

Cyanogen Inc is on a roll when it comes to partners these days as it has just allied itself with Playphone in an attempt to bring the latter’s social game store to Cyanogen OS. It is unclear at this moment whether the store will be bundled with the OS phones. But this will happen soon.

Cyanogen Playphone

The Playphone game store can be installed on most devices if you go to the official website to do so, you won’t be able to go to Google Play to get it. You get lots of free-to-play games, but you also get a paid-app section where you can find games and apps like Final Fantasy III, Tetris and NBA Jam.

The store has been targeting smaller markets, which makes us think it will not push to be presented in Cyanogen OS phones selling on the US market for example.

LG G4 available for pre-oder on Verizon along with a G Pad X8.3 tablet

After being announced and available for pre-order on Sprint, LG G4 is getting the same treatment for Verizon. Starting tomorrow, May 28th, Verizon will start allowing preorders for LG’s 2015 flagship with the device showing its face starting June 4th. Apart from the G4, you will also be able to get a brand new Verizon-branded LG G Pad X8.3.

LGG4

The G4 will sell for $549.99 for 24 payments of $22.91 each. Verizon is doing a promo bundle as well where you get a free 32GB microSD card with your brand new device along with a battery and charging cradle. This US carrier has exclusive rights on the white plastic version of the device, so if you really want it in this fashion, you will have to make up your mind with Verizon.

G Pad X8.3 is a mid-range tablet that sells for only $299.99. The official page doesn’t list any specs but considering the price, we can say it will sport a 1.5 GHz octa-core processor with 16GB of storage, plus a 1080p screen and a handy 4800 mAh battery to power it all. If you buy it with a G4, you also get a deal with the tablet: it costs $199.99 on contract but you can get it with $499.99 if you pair it with a phone.
