Acer just announced a new budget-friendly tablet from the Iconia series. Iconia One 8 is one of the cheaper tablets out there and it will reach North America next month, when it will get the price tag of $99. if that’s not cheap for a tablet, what is? What does $99 get you in a tablet? Acer Iconia One 8 is a weak tablet with a large screen, but what can more you expect for the price? It’s still good enough for kids and the usual browsing, video watching and occasional games. Iconia One 8 spec list: 8-inch HD screen at 1280x800p MediaTek quad-core processor 1 GB of RAM 16GB of storage plus a microSD slot 4600 mAh battery Android 5.1. Don’t hope for an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow either; Acer doesn’t usually get the Android update treatment to its devices very fast; plus, this is a cheap device. Few OEMs actually update their cheaper devices anymore. Acer mentions some software features that could make up for the lack of Android 6.0, if you choose not to look that way. EZ WakeUp allows users to double-tap the screen in order to wake up to a specified app. EZ Snap allows users to use a three-finger pinch for screenshots and the system doctor lets you manage app memory. Additionally, you get a pre-loaded kids UI that will help you set things up for your kids easier. Acer Iconia One 8 will be available in the Middle […]

HTC One X9 was spotted last weekend when some TENAA listings were leaked out. The device is being sold as a “pursuit of brilliance packed with city smarts”. What does that mean? We don’t know yet, but we may find out more in the future. The X9 is a variable of HTC One A9 design-wise, but the lack of a fingerprint reader could point to a cheaper device with overall lower specs. The device shown in photos has BoomSound speakers, plus some capacitive buttons at the front panel. Below you can read what the rest of the speculated specs are: 2.2 GHz quad core processor 2GB of RAM 16GB internal storage plus microSD card slot for more storage 7.99mm thick, 153.2 x 75.9 mm 174g weight. No details regarding a possible launch were leaked yet. HTC needs a breath of fresh air on the market given its financial issues, and any new smartphone could become a hit. We will have to see if HTC One X9 will manage to get the niche market hyped enough because M9, HTC One M9e and One A9 did not break the Internet this year. Source: TENAA via AndroidCommunity
Motorola Moto X Play could be your choice if you want a cheaper flagship in 2015. The device is paired with the Moto X Style – the full-fledged Motorola flagship for 2015 – this is basically a maxed out version of it too, with only slightly lower specs. Moto X Play has a slightly smaller 5.5” 1080p screen paired with the same 21MP and 5MP camera sensors. The smaller screen is powered by a 3630 mAh battery plus Turbo charging, which allegedly brings phone usage to around 48 hours straight before needing another charge. Under the hood you will find a Snapdragon 615 processor plus 2GB of RAM. You will be able to pick a 16GB or 32GB storage version with a microSD slot. The Moto X Play has a smaller and thicker body than other Moto devices, and it retains the same water resistance feature other Motorola devices have. It will have access to Moto Maker but it will probably only get plasticky cases. The device will run on Android 5.1.1 right out of the box. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0b98BFCqOvQ The downside for some markets is that the device will not be available globally, the US being one of the countries where Moto X Play will not be making an appearance. It will be available in some parts of Europe, Canada and Latin America starting August. There is no official price out yet, but it is supposed to be cheaper than Moto X Style ($399.99). […]
Lenovo A7000 was announced at MWC and it appears to be the world’s first smartphone with Dolby Atmos. Apart from this distinguishable feat, the device presents a general lower mid-range constitution. The Dolby Atmos feature is felt better by using headphones because users will hear much clearer sounds of everything: people, places, things and music become more vivid, clearer, richer and more powerful. Noises and voices have a broader range from high to low and even the faintest will be heard. This feature makes the volume more consistent. Apart from this interesting feature, Lenovo A7000 has a pretty good spec list too: 5” HD display with ultra-wide viewing angle MediaTek True 8Core processor 4G LTE Android 5.0 7.9mm thin 140g. Lenovo’s device will be available in Pearl White and Onyx Black color variants. It will also have Lenovo signature apps including DOit software: SYNCit to back up call logs, text SMS and contacts, SHAREit to share photos and files between devices, and CLONEit to transfer existing data to new phones. It is also worth mentioning it has dual SIM slots. Lenovo A7000 will be available on all Lenovo smartphone markets starting March and it will have a price tag starting at $169. Source: Lenovo
