Facebook launches Riff – a video sharing app that lets you collaborate with friends!

Facebook just launched a new app in the form of Riff, a video making application where friends can get together and make videos by using this social network. It’s not a joke, folks, this is really happening!

Riff

Riff will let users shoot videos up to 20 seconds long and share them on Facebook for the rest of the world to see. You get no editing tools and you cannot upload videos you film outside of this app. You basically record, review the result and if you like it you post it online.

The goal for this app is not to get the most likes but to add your original videos. This way, everyone can make small clips based on the same theme for example, and everyone’s personal taste and creativity comes through. Friends can thus create series of videos where everyone contributes something and this way a project is spread throughout a community and maybe the world!

Riff is free to use, but you need a Facebook account to be able to record videos with it.

Assassin’s Creed Unity companion app on Google Play Store

If you’re an Assassin’s Creed lover, you’ll love this bit of news: Ubisoft is launching a companion app for Unity, the franchise’s latest game that will launch tomorrow. Assassin’s Creed Unity will be available exclusively for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and it takes its players to Paris in the time of the French Revolution.

Apart from the old gameplay, the new game introduces co-op multiplayer, which would mean a much longer game.

Assassins creed

Following the trends of the most recent world-acclaimed franchises, Ubisoft launches an Android companion app that doesn’t do much without the actual game. You get a 3D map of Paris which makes navigating the town much easier. Of course, you get a database with lots of information, as well as tips and tutorials. You also get heatmaps where you can check how other players are… er, well… playing the game.

Even if you’re not a fan of companion apps and want your own Unity experience, you should give a click and try the game as its puzzles can give you access to exclusive Nomad Brotherhood missions. The mobile game quests can unlock rewards you can get in-game. The game is free on the Google Play Store.

Pocket update to v 5.7 – redesigned interface to match Android Lollipop

Pocket is updated to version 5.7 just in time for Android Lollipop. The app is an offline reading service that basically has no rival on the market at the moment. The app is consistent with the Android design and its newest update brings about a Lollipop allure. Even if you may have not received the update yet, stay tuned, you will get it soon enough.

The update isn’t a complete redesign, but it seems pretty ready for Android 5.0. The navigation menu is revamped and the icons are a bit updated too. Some new material animations were added and the status bar is now flat grey and not black whereas the multitasking menu gets a red hue.

The new app version looks very good on Android 5.0 and it keeps a distinctive feel while it keeps with the new aesthetics. In case you don’t want to wait for the automatic update, you can try the APK signed by Google HERE.
