HTC One M7 from T Mobile gets OTA update to Android 4.4.3; Wi Fi Calling enhancement included

HTC One M7 from T Mobile is bound to get an update to Android 4.4.3 tomorrow and Wi Fi calling enhancements are included. The OTA update was announced on Twitter today by Mo Versi, the HTC Vice President of Product Management.

Wi Fi calling has been supported by T Mobile for a while now and the feature is basically a way of bypassing poor mobile connections by using a home network instead. The update is supposed to increase the service quality and enhance the overall experience on the HTC One M7.

AT &T’s HTC One M8 gets update to Android 4.4.3

HTC One M8 from AT&T is getting an OTA update to Android 4.4.3. The change is not so great considering M8 was launched with KitKat, but the optimizations and security fixes are worth the download.

The firmware is number 2.23.502.3 and it weighs around 660 MB. AT&T is not the first (T Mobile already updated its HTC M8 last week), but not the last to update the M8 either, as Verizon will update its device version mid-September. You can start pushing that Update button now, but beware if you have a rooted phone. Most security fixes will plug up exploits that allow root access, so you may want to wait a bit before updating. Or you can reinstall the stock OS before updating.

Google Dialer do-over rumored for Android 4.4.3 – does it look better?

Google Dialer may get a redesign in Android 4.4.3, if we take the leaks we find online for granted. Contacts are rearranged in series of cards that present contact photos rather than traditional lists with details.

Cards show pictures when they are available or they remain colored and share the contact’s initials. The dialer search box is at the top and has a blue action bar at the bottom of the device. We don’t know if these photos found on XDA Developer are real or not as they present certain inconsistencies. We shall see when we get the KitKat update.
