SamMobile is digging around and because of their work we can now see an early TouchWiz Lollipop build running on Samsung Galaxy S4. Of course, the images cannot be officially confirmed as pertaining to a Samsung ROM, but most of SamMobile’s information is real.
From the video and images you can see that most of the interface remains the same, as the notification shade is split and the first row of toggles and brightness can be found on the notification side, this being one of Samsung’s trademark design elements. Among the Lollipop touches you will find the Material Design blended backgrounds on certain apps and the redesigned recents view with animated cards.
The build is branded code LRX02E and it indicates an earlier build than the AOSP release, which means Samsung may have been working on this for a while now. SamMobile believes this build is destined to the LTE international models and it does not have functional WiFi. Of course, this is a reason why Samsung didn’t publish it on their database. It is an encouraging sign that Samsung is taking software updates seriously, at least when it comes to its flagships. There are no signs of knowing how long it could take for official updates to hit the market, moreover there will be delays when it comes to carriers and add-ons.
