Android TV apps will have to be approved and screened by Google before becoming available in the Play Store. There are few details known regarding the reason behind this decision, but don’t paint Google in evil colors just yet.
There is no indication that this new policy will affect Android and Android Wear devices and apps because it will probably not be in Google’s interests to do so. If screening and approving apps will make them better and more viable choices for users, then it means that this decision is for the best.
This decision could be an attempt at producing better results with Android TV than with its predecessor, Google TV. That one had sufficient horrible apps to last a lifetime. Google may be learning from its mistakes and, even if Android TV is still at the beginning, the future seems bright.
